Wrapping up DC...
So I guess I should record this for posterity. Recounting our stories all evening to everyone we met up with provided a lot of laughs, so it’s funny now.
Getting out of the cab at Adam’s Morgan, the driver rolled over Michael’s foot (actually, more like parked on his foot). We iced it right away, and he said it was pretty much fine, and no bruises, so it seems okay.
And then...

"Geocachers NEVER abort"
Several weeks ago, Suzi and I were asked (at the very last minute) to be part of a secret geocaching promotion video. We had no idea what we were going to be doing, but we knew we needed matching outfits. And that they would be neon.
It was a pretty major production. For, you know, a film shot for the visitor’s bureau for a niche hobby. We had a film crew of 3, scripts, call times, and...

There are roughly three New Yorks. There is, first, the New York of the man or...

I love this!

Ah, New York, my love.
NYE 2013: Washington, DC
A little late on this post, because it happened before NYC.
Anyway. Michael, Kevan, Melissa, and I traveled to DC on the 30th. Mike and Audrey were already at Adam and Suzi’s. We got ready, had the obligatory arrival Jameson shot with the confetti gun, and then spent the afternoon with the ladies walking around Georgetown. The boys met us for dinner at—where else?—Filomena!...
One more NYC story.
When Katie and I were ordering at Niagara, we struck up a conversation with the Australian guy next to us. He asked where we were from (I guess on the assumption that everyone in the city is from somewhere else?) and Katie said Ohio… He said, “is that the one with the corn or the potatoes?”
Things I learned about NYC transportation:
I learned how to hail a cab on the last trip (the trick is that if a cab is available, only the center light is lit). I definitely perfected my cab hailing on this trip. It was cold, and when it was late or when we were going too far to walk (like, over 1 1/2 miles), we took cabs every time.
I also learned how to say addresses- you give them cross-streets. And I was confused about which...

Club Dave
The other night, I had one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had in Athens. Our little hippy college town that we call home draws a lot of awesome residents, and of them is a sculptor who plays jazz in his spare time. He has a room off of his workshop where he hosts “Club Dave” every so often- a BYOB party for people to hang out among his half-finished pieces of art and wood...
Christmas week
I am a lucky lady and have 2 weeks off work for Christmas this year. This is what we have done so far.
My favorites, Adam and Suzi, were back in Athens, so we visited with them a lot. Including an afternoon spent at Shade Winery and the subsequent dinner spent on their couch, puppy on my lap, watching Christmas cartoons.
We also had time to visit with all our family members- including...
